doing taxes online Do you feel that the IRS.gov ... - Covey Finance

Question:
Please tell me your positive experiences with both.

Thank you.

Best answer:

the irs website only gives you a list of other sites that offer free federal filing ?i personally use hr block, its so much simpler and if i need help i can call ANY of their offices for that. most sites will charge you to file the state return though, my suggestion is go to your states website and see if they offer free efile. I am in CA and do know the ftb does offer free efile for their state returns

Go to http://www.turbotax.com and click on the best solution for your needs (eg 1040EZ, Deluxe, etc), and just run through your taxes!

You do NOT have to pay to use this web based turbo tax?you only pay when you FILE your taxes. This is a great program to run through different tax scenarios because it shows what your anticipated refund is once you enter information! You can always go back and edit the information later (as long as you haven?t filed it yet).

You can also use this for your State taxes as well!

Again?you can ?practice? as much as you want, and there is no charge! You only get charged once you are ready to submit that information to the IRS.

Hope that helps!

Question:

Best answer:

Many people do taxes online.
Income earned in 2009 must be reported in 2009. You must wait for W2 and 1099s before filing your tax return.

Employers/companies must mail W2 or 1099 by Feb 2, 2010. If you do not receive it by Feb 15, then you can call IRS 1-800-829-1040 .

If you file based on last pay slip or do not report any income, you may have to file amended tax return Form 1040 if there is any different figure in W2 or 1099 or you do not report all your income. http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2009/01/when-will-i-get-my-tax-refund.html
