The Boston Herald recently reported on one shopper who partook in the state?s the tax-free holiday shopping but this was no "I saved hundreds on back-to-school supplies!" story.Syrene Reilly went to the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, bought $150 of merchandise at the Body Shop -- and still was charged nearly $10 in sales tax. As it turned out the Body Shop had decided not to participate in the holiday, citing its belief that its beauty products do not fall within the ?exempt? category.? But they do - and the Herald quoted a local office as saying the sales tax holiday is not optional. ...
